Celebrate victory calmly, please don't take law into your hands: Tariq Rahman

Acting Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Tariq Rahman gave a video message urging the countrymen to remain calm in the wake of Sheikh Hasina's resignation and departure.


 In a video message, Tariq Rahman said, celebrate this joyous time of victory calmly.  Please do not seek revenge or vengeance.  Please don't take the law into your own hands.


 He further said that a free, fair and impartial election should be organized as soon as possible to reach the ultimate goal of the people's historic revolution.  Power must be transferred to representatives elected by the people as soon as possible.


 BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is under treatment in the hospital, also called on the people of all walks of life to remain calm.  The party's general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged the people to be calm and patient.


 Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.  According to party sources, he is expected to return home in a couple of days.
