 A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against actress Moushumi in the check dishonor case.  October 16 is scheduled for submission of the Tamil report regarding the arrest



 MM Mushfiqur Rashid, the plaintiff in the case, said, "I filed a case against actress Moushumi on the charge of check dishonor."  Moushumi has been summoned to appear in court.  An arrest warrant has been issued against him as he did not appear in court.


 IPDC Finance Limited's lawyer Abu Al Nahid said, "There has been a check dishonor case against actress Moushumi.  As he did not appear in court in this case, the court issued an arrest warrant against him.


 In the complaint, the plaintiff mentioned that IPDC is a financial institution, which conducts financial transactions like deposits, loans, investments, currency exchange across the country.  The institution is governed under the Financial Institutions Act, 1993 and the Bank Companies Act, 2023 (Amended).  and its headquarters at Hosna Center (4th Floor), 106 Gulshan Avenue, Dhaka-1212.  It also has more branches across the country.The defendant in the case Arifa Parveen Zaman Moushumi is a citizen of Bangladesh.  His father's name is Najmuzzaman Monir.  Complainant sanctioned loan in favor of Moushumi.  The defendant accepted and benefited from the loan from the plaintiff.  But the defendant irregularly paid installments without complying with the terms of the loan.  Later the plaintiff urged the defendant several times to repay the loan on time.  On 13 September 2023, the defendant transferred Tk 1 lakh 6 thousand 211 from his own account to the account of the plaintiff to settle the partial liability of the outstanding loan.  Check number deposited in City Bank is 8378832.  The total amount of said check is 1 lakh 6 thousand 211 taka.  When the check was shown at Standard Chartered Bank Limited in Gulshan on September 13 last year, the bank said that there was no specified amount in the check account.


 Later in accordance with the provisions of Section-138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act-1881 on 12 October 2023 the complainant through his authorized officer gave notice to the accused demanding payment of the said check within 30 days.  Otherwise, criminal action will be taken against the complainant under the Negotiable Instruments Act- 1881, the notification said.


 The accused failed to pay the check by 11 November 2023 as mentioned in the notice.  The complainant was dishonored due to insufficient funds of the check issued by the accused.  His City Bank Limited account number is 2801425516001.  Due to the failure of the accused person to pay by the date mentioned in the notification, 12 November 2023, I have been forced to file a case against him.


 Mousumi made his Dhallywood debut in 1993 with the movie 'Kayamat To Keayamat'.  This actress gained recognition and popularity by acting opposite Salman Shah in the film directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan.  At the moment, heroine Moushumi is staying in the United States.
